London
based Terry Church is a sorely underrated DJ talent. His unique mixing
technique, passion and quirky style has earned him sets all over the
UK warming up for the best of them. He's still only 21-years-old.
In 2001 Terry was awarded best young DJ in the south of England
and warmed up for breakbeat legend Krafty Kuts at the Rox festival.
With a remarkably mature musical taste for such a young age, Terry
won the competition by mixing up breaks, tech house, electro and
tribal in just 15 minutes. The 6000 people who watched his set were
blown away.
Terry has warmed up for the best of them, including prog God Nick
Warren in 2003 in the mainroom of The Gallery. He's also played
before Tomcraft, Sister Bliss from Faithless, and James Holden.
Terry has promoted and DJed in London since he was 15-years-old.
He has run one-off secret after-parties on a Sunday morning for
the post-Fabric crowd, organised outdoor summer parties, and he
still runs a weekly night at the Meze Lounge in Chelsea. He plays
regularly at Turnmills, Heaven, and The Pool Bar too.
His
style of music is an eclectic mash up of electronic sounds that include
progressive, techno, breakbeat, electro, deep house, and tech house.
It's a sound that defines his London residencies, and his show on
065 CITY FM.
In his own words: "With my London Underground show on 065
CITY FM I highlight my favourite tracks from each of the genres
I play, and each week it's a different sound. One week will be a
dark and driving journey through evil progressive house and techno,
and the next week will be a mix of crunchy tech house, twisted electro
and acid breaks."
All this, and he still manages to cram in a job as a music journalist
and website editor for DJ Magazine, based in London.
Terry is working as a member of the bosniaexpress.org team to bring
his style of music to venues across Bosnia and has helped raise
much needed funds for a variety of youth projects.
